About Ana Liffey

from Harm to Hope since 1982

Ana Liffey provides non-judgemental support for people affected by drug use, homelessness, poverty and social exclusion.

Since 1982, we have worked alongside people often excluded from mainstream services — offering practical harm reduction, outreach, healthcare support, advocacy and pathways toward safety, stability and change.

Vision

Ana Liffey’s vision is for a safe, compassionate society where people enduring social harms, such as addiction and homelessness, are treated with dignity and are supported to rebuild their lives.

mission

To improve the quality of life for people in our communities who are struggling under the profound hardships of social harms. We reach out and connect with those who need us. We deliver support to reduce harm and empower people to achieve their recovery.

A Message from Our CEO

At Ana Liffey, we believe that people struggling with substance use, homelessness, and social isolation deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. We provide direct services to those experiencing these challenges, supporting them to live safer, healthier lives and to pursue recovery.

Since 1982, we have delivered accessible support to people affected by addiction. Today, we continue this work and have expanded our services to reach those experiencing homelessness, mental health difficulties, and gender-based violence. We remove any unnecessary barriers to accessing us and think outside of the box to ensure we reach people with our help. We have proven our ability to adapt and respond quickly as the world changes around us, whether that is shifting drug trends, new communities requiring our services or innovations in service delivery. This is a core value of Ana Liffey - we are committed to constantly evolving to meet the needs of the people we serve.

Our teams of solution-focused case managers, nurses, and counsellors provide high-quality interventions tailored to the unique needs of each person we support. Through our outreach programmes, we connect with people in their communities, their homes, on the streets, and in homeless accommodation—bringing our services directly to those who need them most. Our mobile harm reduction and health promotion service, the VanaLiffey, delivers harm reduction supplies, nursing care, and crisis supports to people living in rural areas and to those sleeping rough in our cities.

"We do not judge those who come to us for support; we seek to understand their struggles and walk alongside them as they rebuild their lives."

At Ana Liffey, we are driven by our values. We are pragmatic—we say what we do, and we do what we say. We believe in the potential of every person we serve. We do not judge those who come to us for support; instead, we seek to understand their struggles and work alongside them to rebuild their lives, one step at a time.

Most importantly, Ana Liffey will never give up on anyone who needs our help. Rebuilding a life takes time, and recovery is rarely a straight path. We understand this, and we promise each person who seeks our support that we will stand by them until they are ready to move on—stronger, healthier, and more hopeful for their future.

Our vision is of a society that is fairer, more inclusive, and recognizes the value of every person we serve. Through our strong partnerships, strategic objectives, and high-impact services, we will continue to advocate for the changes needed to make this vision a reality.
